The 3 on 6™ Process and Timeline

Step 1

Your journey starts with a complimentary consultation with a Dr. Jason Emett. During this visit, He will conduct detailed scans of your mouth to assess if you are suitable for the 3 on 6™ procedure.

In this first meeting, the treatment coordinator will also discuss various payment and financing plans, helping you understand your options. Additionally, they will work with you to decide if and when you would like to commence your treatment.

Step 2

During your next visit, we will perform the implant placement procedure. For your comfort, you can choose to have sedation. After the surgery, the implants will undergo a healing period, which may last several months, depending on your individual healing process.

Step 3

Once your implants have fully healed and are robust, you will be fitted with a new set of temporary bridges. These bridges provide an opportunity for you to experience and suggest any adjustments you desire before the final teeth are created.

After using these bridges for a couple of weeks, you will have a consultation with Dr. Emett. During this meeting, your feedback will be crucial in guiding any necessary tweaks or changes to the bridges.

Step 4

The ultimate step involves crafting your final zirconia bridges, meticulously made by our in-house 3 on 6™ dental lab experts according to Dr. Emett’s detailed specifications. A concluding appointment will be arranged for the dentist to fit these final bridges, making sure they align perfectly with your expectations.

Your new 3 on 6™ smile will not only be stunning but also permanent. There’s no need for removal; simple brushing and flossing will keep it in great condition. You’ll be able to smile, speak, kiss, and chew with renewed confidence and ease!

Questions and Answers

Can I finance my treatment with payments?

If your credit score is 650 or above, you’re likely to be eligible for financing. For those with lower credit scores,  payment assistance might be an option, though this typically involves a down payment and proof of a consistent income.

What if I don't live near a 3 on 6™ provider location?

Numerous patients journey to undergo 3 on 6™ treatment. Inquire with our office to determine the number of visits required to finish the treatment. Additionally, the office manager will gladly assist in organizing your travel and accommodation arrangements.

How does the 3 on 6™ price compare to comparable treatments?

Patients opting for our 3 on 6™ treatment frequently save thousands of dollars compared to similar treatment options.

Our licensed office is committed to providing the most affordable prices in the market. Specializing exclusively in implants and full mouth restorations allows us to secure excellent deals on supplies and equipment, enhancing the speed and efficiency of our doctors.

Moreover, we achieve considerable cost reductions by utilizing our own in-house lab, unlike most offices that rely on external labs.

Is the procedure painful?

Our office is committed to ensuring that your treatment experience is as comfortable as possible. Our office offers general anesthesia with a dedicated anesthesiologist, allowing you the option to sleep through the procedure and awaken to a stunning new smile. Alternatives like IV sedation may also be available. Please confirm the options with the treatment coordinator.

Like typical dental visits, you should not experience any pain during the procedure. Although it’s common for patients to experience some discomfort in the week following surgery, most find that over-the-counter pain relievers like Ibuprofen or Tylenol are sufficient for pain management. If necessary, our treatment coordinator might also prescribe stronger medication for pain that cannot be alleviated with OTC options.

How long is the recovery?

The majority of patients are typically able to resume work just a few days following their surgery. Once the implants have been positioned, there is generally a healing period of 3-4 months, during which a soft foods diet is recommended, before your final restorations are installed.

Will I leave my surgery with no teeth?

Certainly not! On the day of the surgery, you will depart from the office with a beautiful new smile. While your implants are healing, you will be fitted with temporary bridges, or in rare instances, a removable alternative such as a denture. You can be confident that you will never leave our office without teeth!

How do I know if I'm a candidate?

At your consultation, a 3D scan of your mouth and jawbones will be conducted. Assessing the health and quantity of your bone is crucial in determining your eligibility for the 3 on 6™ procedure. During this consultation,  Dr. Emmett will inform you about which procedures you are suitable for based on these assessments.

What if I don't have enough bone for implants?

There are instances where patients have been incorrectly informed that they lack sufficient bone for implants, when in fact, they do have enough. Even in situations involving significant bone loss, solutions may still be available through bone grafting or the use of specialized zygomatic/pterygoid implants. Our office often finds viable solutions where others may not. Only a small percentage of patients truly lack the bone necessary for the 3 on 6™ procedure. For these patients, we can typically propose an alternative solution, such as the All-on-X.

What is the difference between the All-on-X and the 3 on 6™?

The All-on-X is a more extensive and bulkier restoration that may feel less natural in your mouth. Due to its size, it often necessitates the removal of some bone to accommodate it. This option is sometimes the best choice in cases of severe bone loss.

However, there are some disadvantages to the All-on-X. It can trap food and typically needs to be periodically removed for cleaning to prevent infection. Being a single unit restoration, it limits implant stimulation, potentially increasing the risk of bone and tissue loss.

In contrast, the 3 on 6™ involves three segmented bridges attached using six implants per arch. This method replaces only the teeth, without the need for artificial acrylic gums, offering a sensation more akin to having your natural teeth. There’s no requirement for bone removal, and the use of six implants on segmented bridges enhances implant stimulation, helping to prevent bone loss. Additionally, the 3 on 6™ does not require removal for cleaning or maintenance purposes.

Why shouldn't I just go with a denture?

Many people experience a gag reflex with dentures, as they can resemble wearing a large plastic mouthguard. Dentures can also lead to irritation and discomfort, difficulties with speech, and a diminished ability to taste food. Additionally, adhesives are necessary to keep the dentures from slipping, and inevitably, some of this glue is ingested, which can be both uncomfortable and unhealthy. Denture wearers are also often required to avoid certain types of food.

Furthermore, dentures do not provide any support to the jawbone. Consequently, wearing dentures can lead to gradual bone deterioration in the jaw, altering the shape of your mouth. This change necessitates the increased use of adhesives and eventually requires the replacement of the dentures every few years. Given these considerations, dentures should be viewed as a last resort for those exploring options for smile restoration.

How do I maintain a 3 on 6™ smile?

Caring for your new 3 on 6™ smile is quite similar to looking after natural teeth. With proper cleaning, they should last a lifetime. Regular brushing and flossing are essential, and the use of a water flosser is highly recommended to maintain the cleanliness of your implants and gums.

It’s important for patients to schedule standard dental cleanings every six months. These cleanings are straightforward, and there’s no need for anything to be removed. Additionally, it’s advisable to avoid smoking and drug use, as these can negatively impact bone density and the longevity of your implants. Maintaining a healthy diet and regular exercise also plays a significant role in both your dental and overall health.
